Thought to be left behind after no return album from Da Backwudz, Big Marc now known as Aleon Craft to control of his own destiny and created his own style of music, Solar-Hop. Previewed on SMKA’s two compilation albums, Craft went on to release The Stargazing Soundtrack showcasing his perfected craft. Back again, Aleon releases Mothership Decatur filled with funky southern rap verses and great production by SMKA. Aleon Craft briefly explains his work on his latest release.
Songs, songs, songs… Oh, how I love making songs! My latest project, Mothership Decatur, hosted by DJ Smallz, shows that love for the music. Solar-Hop music. Capturing that love was very important to me on this project and I feel we accomplished that task. I’ve grown mentally, as well as, musically and wanted to express that through song. Mothership Decatur is happiness, pain, joy, education, fun, and cloudy all in one!
I really enjoyed creating all the songs on this project. I was blessed with production from 808 Blake & J. Padron of SMKA and a few others. Three of my favorites are “Look Twice”, “Donkey Kong”, “Places To Fly”.
“Look Twice” is a song that reminds us to always evaluate the situations and things around you. Look twice before you cross the street.
“Donkey Kong” shows the love that country boys have for thick women, in a respectful way, of course. We like our G.R.I.T.S. thick!
“Places To Fly” reminds us to always follow our dreams. I know it’s easier said than done. We have to learn to use life’s trials and mishaps as motivation to reach our goals and to get where we want to be. I’m a living testimony.
